Davenport, IA -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) toll-free registration and Helpline begin new hours effective Tuesday, May 22, 2001.

People who suffered damage from the severe storms, flooding, and tornadoes in Iowa since April 8th, but who have not applied for assistance, should call the toll-free registration number to begin the recovery process. FEMA's toll-free registration number is 1-800-462-9029. Those with hearing or speech impairments can register by calling 1-800-462-7585. The registration telephone number is available 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday (Closed Memorial Day, Monday, May 28, 2001).

FEMA is available to answer applicant questions at the FEMA Disaster Information Helpline from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m., Monday through Friday (Closed Memorial Day, Monday, May 28, 2001). You may access the toll-free Helpline at 1-800-525-0321. For the hearing or speech-impaired, the TTY Helpline is 1-800-660-8005.
