CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- State and federal officials will close the U. S. Small Business Administration (SBA) workshop in Waterloo, Iowa, on Friday, August 20. The workshop has been located in the Black Hawk Hazmat Training Center, 1925 Newell Street, in Waterloo.
Through Friday, SBA representatives will be available to help residents and business owners get information on low-interest loans that help cover residential and business disaster losses not fully compensated by insurance. The hours of the center are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Even though this facility is closing, all residents and business owners, including farmers, who have sustained damages to their homes or personal property from the severe storms and flooding between July 2 and August 10, 1999 are still encouraged to apply for disaster assistance. Apply by calling the Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) toll-free registration number at 1-800-462-9029. Those with hearing or speech impairments can register by calling 1-800-462-7585. The telephone numbers are operational from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. CDT, Monday through Saturday until further notice.
