DULUTH, Minn. -- State and federal officials have announced that the Hibbing Disaster Recovery Center will be phased into a U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) workshop this coming Thursday.
Starting Thursday at 9 a.m, the Hibbing center, located in the Memorial Building at 400 East 23rd Street, will be staffed only by SBA representatives. "The workshop will be open at the Hibbing location from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday, until further notice," said SBA Loan Officer Matt Young. "SBA staffers will be there to answer questions about low-interest loans and to assist applicants on a one-on-one basis with the completion of their loan forms," Young added.
While still in operation as a Disaster Recovery Center, Wednesday from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m., representatives of various federal, state, local and voluntary agencies will be on hand to provide detailed information about programs and services available to victims of the recent storms and flooding.
After Wednesday, those who have questions about disaster assistance programs or who want to know the status of their applications may call the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Helpline at 1 800 525-0321 (TTY 1 800 660-8005) for the speech or hearing impaired.) The Helpline will be in operation Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. until further notice.
Anyone who suffered damage or loss in the storms that occurred between July 4 and August 2 is encouraged to apply for disaster assistance as soon as possible. "The application process is easy, quick and confidential and requires only one toll-free phone call," said Ron Sherman, FEMA Coordinating Officer. "The number to call is 1 800 462-9029, or TTY 1 800 462-7585, to make application for the various types of assistance available from federal, state and local agencies."
