WASHINGTON, D.C. -- On Wednesday, May 12, EENET aired "Y2K: A Leadership Issue... A matter of will and judgement" This is the first of three programs on Y2K which will look at Year 2000 issues from an emergency management perspective.
Featured are planning, emergency response, community, and public information issues, in light of leadership and community preparation. To demonstrate actions, Montgomery County Maryland, a municipality of about 850,000 people that borders Washington, DC. was visited. Several panels of representatives who have extensive emergency management experience, and who are involved with Year 2000 preparations, discussed community preparation, and how Y2K does not need to become a disaster. Included in each of the programs will be issues and summaries from the FEMA Regional Y2K Preparation & Consequences Management Workshops that were conducted during February and March 1999.
On May 19th, the entire program will be available "on-demand" via the Internet. Check the EENET page for link information.
