Washington, February 8, 1999 -- More rain is expected in the Pacific Northwest today and flood warnings are posted for northwest Oregon. According to the National Weather Service, rain will fall as far south as San Francisco. The precipitation will turn to snow - six to 12 inches of accumulation - in the Cascades. Some areas of the Pacific Northwest has received more than seven inches of rain since Friday.

By mid-week, areas of the Sierra Nevada Mountains could see up to five feet of snow on the ground. Many communities have already recorded as much as 36 inches of snow since the weekend.
