NIMSCAST Training Modules
National Incident Management System Compliance Assistance Support Tool (NIMSCAST) Training is designed to provide new and existing users an overview of the NIMSCAST system accessed through the Preparedness Compliances Assistance Systems Tool portal. The course is arranged in five modules.
- Module 1: Overview and Navigation
- Module 2: Account Management
- Module 3: User Permissions Management
- Module 4: Assessment Management
- Module 5: Running NIMSCAST Reports.
We recommend new users complete the modules in order, but all users can return to view all or part of this training course at any time. For additional information on NIMSCAST, see the NIMSCAST Users Guide available in the NIMSCAST Resources menu.
NIMSCAST Training Module 1: Overview and Navigation is an overview of NIMS implementation and the NIMSCAST process, NIMSCAST user permission types, and the NIMSCAST hierarchy. Demonstrations include: how to sign in to the PrepCAST portal to access NIMSCAST; how to navigate PrepCAST; how to update your user profile; how to change your password; how to navigate NIMSCAST; how to update your NIMSCAST preferences; and how to get help with NIMSCAST. NIMSCAST Training Module 2: Account Management covers how to create a NIMSCAST hierarchy and demonstrates how to identify your Current Account, how to create sub-accounts and how to edit your primary and sub accounts. This module is particularly useful for users with administrative permission. (Large PDF 10MB, Small PDF 6MB)
NIMSCAST Training Module 3: User Permissions Management shows you how to add user permissions to an account as well as how to edit and remove user permissions. This module is particularly useful for users with administrative permission. (Large PDF 5MB, Small PDF 2MB)
NIMSCAST Training Module 4: Assessment Management covers the basics of assessment collection. Demonstrations include: how to view and respond to assessments; how to complete Corrective Action Plans (CAPs); and how to submit (rollup) assessments. The review rollups and rollup CAPs process is also demonstrated. This module is relevant for all users. (Large PDF 14MB, Small PDF 8.5MB)
By the end of NIMSCAST Training Module 5: Running NIMSCAST Reports, you should be aware of the available NIMSCAST reports and how to run them. After discussion of the Account/User reports, you will see a demonstration of the Accounts Needing to Roll Up Report. After discussion of the Single Account reports, you will see a demonstration of how to run the Comprehensive report for your jurisdiction. The module concludes with a discussion of Rollup reports and a demonstration of how to run the Rollup Aggregated Responses report to compile responses submitted by your sub-accounts.
