Hi my name is Mike Pickerel, I am a Planner with the state emergency management agency in Missouri. I am here to talk about volunteer and donations management. I want to give you two things to think about when you begin your volunteer and donations process. The first is control your message. Be sure to ask for what you want, and accept what you need. The second thing I want to talk about is document. Document, document, document. Document the donations you receive, document the volunteers and the volunteer hours, and the volunteer jobs that they do. Doing that in Joplin, we saved the city 17.7 million dollars.  Why should people care? Because you never know when it is going to happen to you, and it is not a matter of if, it will. So it is just a matter of time.
