Don Mann: It moved it around 300 feet, and it went up against a tree and when you get down there and look at it when you look on that tree in front of it, and you can see where the house was at because when it come down, when the water come down, it stripped all the branches off of that one side about 20 feet. Edward David: I just had enough time to pick up my sleeping bag and grab a coat and a pillow, just had enough time to untie the dogs and get in the van and get out. Don Mann: As the flooding progressed, you know, the next day and then the next day and finally the water got up to where it was about twenty five foot deep. Edward David: Some people still miss the old village like I do, you know I grew up there, and I lost a lot of memories right there. And its taking time to get used to this. Don Mann: Samaritans Purse, they come in and they help us with some financial help and they also helped us with laborers. They got a couple of guys that came out here to help me. Daniel Jellicorse: Here we have a crew of volunteers, and they are working with the homeowner the homeowner has picked out a house plan and has bought the materials with their FEMA grant and we are providing volunteer labor to help him build that. Bill McCoy: Were working very closely with Samaritans Purse, they bought the tools and have them here to share with us. Some days youll see Samaritans Purse volunteers working with our crews some days you may see our crews working with Samaritans Purse, depending on what skills we have and whats needed at a particular job. So thats gone really well. Our gift is free labor. Edward David: Its kinda nice to see them go up like that, you know Ive never seen houses go up that fast before. Billy McCoy: Were gonna build log homes and they told me Well we dont build log homes. And I said, Well, when we were kids we all had Lincoln Logs didnt we? These are just bigger Lincoln Logs kits. So its amazing how quick these guys will learn. Edward David: Yeah, without them, boy this wouldnt be happening. Daniel Jellicorse: Were gonna take $10,000 of our donor money and give that to each one of those thirteen families. It really makes the money go that much farther because youre not having to pay for the cost of labor. Edward David: This is my new, gonna be my new place here. And boy its kinda exciting to see it happen. Well its going fast, boy these are some heck of a workers alright. Floyd Reynolds: The reason I really like the help people and do disaster relief work not only to help the people get the home back, but just to help them get their life back together maybe, and know that there still is hope. Edward David: I was going to walk around there today and just check it out and see if you know they need a hand Ill give them a hand. Don Mann: I didnt want them to come in and do anything especially for me, I wanted them to come in and help me help myself.
