John Fulton: The gravel mission is to get the gravel from the quarry over here to the peoples individual homeowner sites. Darrel Christenson: Were building, making the foundation pad and are trying to get it to a minimum of three to four feet higher than it was before. Were going with a treated wood foundation. John Fulton: A lot of the pads here had been somewhat eroded or there just wasnt a building pad to begin with. So we are going ahead, hauling in large amounts of gravel and getting a base pad to go ahead and begin construction of the house. Darrell Christenson: An absolute necessity; without the foundation you dont think about putting a house up here. Weve never seen water this high. Its been into the yard. This time it came up so fast into the house we barely had time to get out. I got out of the house with my dog and what I was wearing, it came in that fast. This pile of stuff here all came out of the yard, and what we do when we clean the yard, it looked just a mess of trees. We put it on the river bank, put sand on it, put a like willows and stuff in to get a root system and when the ice jam does come again it just hits it and goes back without destroying the river bank. John Fulton: The residents that Im directly involved with are very, very pleased and very happy to see the gravel coming in. It means for them that they can concentrate their efforts in other areas. Darrell Christenson: Beethoven! (laughing) 14 years old, got one eye and dont hear real good.
