Getting Back The Repatriation of the Anne Carlsen Center Jamestown, ND 6/11/2009 Brenda Scholten 00:06:14 We are on the Anne Carlsen Center campus in Jamestown. This is the first day of a two-day process of us returning to campus after being gone nearly 3 months. Due to dangers from floodwaters, and fear of floodwaters we evacuated on March 23rd. We have 339 employees, 56 students who reside here, not to mention the many other services that we provide to other individuals and families. It takes a lot of resources and a lot of organization and um a lot of time. And so now that we've been away so long, coming back, moving back is a, is a huge undertaking. It's a major operation. We evacuated in less than 5 hours. Thanks to ah hard working employees and then the tremendous amount of community support. We had a lot of Jamestown College students who came and helped with that process. You know we sand bagged. Ah, we had employees and volunteers sand bagging in blizzard and, and cold conditions/rainy conditions, but no one complained. And it's nice to see all the smiling faces and it's exciting to see the students. The students are ecstatic to be back. They're smiling, giving people hugs. They're so glad to be back to their classrooms and their bedrooms. It's, it's a wonderful experience. There have been a lot of silver linings to, to these challenging weeks that have gone by. So there have been a lot of good experiences that have come out of it as well. For more information visit www.fema.gov
