Hi, I'm Craig Fugate, the Administrator of FEMA, and I'm at a conference called TEDMED. You may wonder why FEMA is at a conference primarily looking at medicine and medical advances and how we use creativity to solve the challenges of disease, how do we age, and how do we live with all of the things we deal with in health issues But I'm talking about disasters, and that's another part of dealing with disasters, looking at the impacts, the patients and the impacts to the health care system. And so today, I'm going to talk about how we need to build better resilience in our communities by talking about it in medical terms, such as looking at disasters as a trauma patient. But also, looking at how be build resiliency through the building the immunity of the system in looking at communities and how we take the idea that we can better prepare communities the same way we can better prepare ourselves to be better, healthier and able to survive trauma So today, at TEDMED, I'm talking about disasters at a conference that's primarily talking about how we are more creative in looking at the issue of medicine, health and health care in this country.
