FEMA community relations teams in south Texas visit homes affected by Hurricane Alex and Tropical Depression #2 in La Grulla, TX Hidalgo County Today we are in the community of La Grulla and we are going door to door with our state partners providing disaster assistance information to those who were affected by the recent disaster Imp with FEMA here working with the state of Texas speaking with people who might have been affected by the storm a few weeks back there was some flooding in this area…Was you house affected? Shannon Benson Community Relations Lead We are going into those communities and knocking on the doors and talking with the residents, business owners, the churches, other faith based organizations, making sure that they know where the disaster recovery center is and how to register with FEMA and answering any questions they may have. It has very important to have someone who speaks Spanish with us and we found a lot of people today who really appreciate it that that service was available to them so it has been a great help.
