"Fail is not in our vocabulary" Fargo, North Dakota March 26, 2009 Capt. Grant Larson / Air National Guard: We've been tasked with everything from... on the air side we are the ones taking the requests. We've had to dispatch even the Coast Guard helicopters to go out and make evacuations. We have been tasked, you see behind us, we have two sites in town, we are tasked to help make sandbags; to help supply the dikes to make sandbags, and we also have Air Guard personnel out throwing those sand bags on dikes. We also have these different I don't know what they are called, but they're square... boxes that are filled with sand, they're placed they're manmade, they're like manmade dikes. So we're out there, help them do that. and we're doing 24 / 7, we're doing dike watch now. We are watching the dike 24/7 to see if there are any leaks if there was they would call back right away. And also the joint operation of the state, city and everybody we are trying to do a cooperative effort, and then we would radio it back if it breaches because we would have to help with the evacuation of the personnel in that neighborhood. We have a very joint force as far as North Dakota. We have... The Army and Air Guard work hand in hand basically this effort is fought by both Army personnel and Air Guard personnel doing all these things together, whether it is leadership down it is a joint operation. So whether its you know getting information, or throwing sandbags down on the dike. It is Army and Air Guard, are standing side by side, it is all North Dakota guard personnel. Fail is not in our vocabulary. So We are just trying to fight it. We won it in '97 . We want a we win it now. That is where we are going to go, that is what we are going to do.
