We’re coordinating with several local and
federal assets New York City Department of Health,
US Forest Service, EMS Strike Teams. To help
coordinate a canvassing effort in the neighborhood
to go through in buildings that the
New York City Department of Health has identified
as having people who have significant needs following
the disaster. The actual canvassing process is
being coordinated with the New York State National Guard.
We’re finding a lot of older people who are stuck in
the high rises some people need medical attention mostly asthmatic or diabetic. The EMS teams are doing
the medical evaluations and the initial stabilization
and treatment of those patients. If the patients aren’t
that sick, but still have medical needs they are being
brought to our facility where have physicians.
Business has been steady we do have people in
the neighborhood who are walking up
looking for care. We have been identifying
some needs for a lot of medications so that has been a portion of our plan as well. We’ve successfully managed to
help prevent transport of some patients
to the hospital. Which helps to decompress the
needs that are on the local health system.
