Hi, I'm Craig Fugate, the Administrator of FEMA. We've all been working hard to get ready for the Hurricane Sandy storm as it's coming in. Now is the time to make sure that you've taken the steps that you're ready and after the storm, be careful, because unfortunately the hazards don't end just because the storm passes. We're working with state and local officials, with tribal officials as they get ready not only to support the initial response but recovery operations. Now we know we've got a long way to go, but together we'll get through this. So do your part. Make sure you and your family take the steps to stay safe. After the storm, be careful, check on your neighbors, and give those crews time to get the utilities back up by staying off the roads unless necessary. This is a big storm, it's going to have a lot of impacts. The thing we don't know is how bad it will be, but this team has been getting ready for several days and it's a team made up of your local officials, volunteer agencies, the private sector, your governors' team, the National Guard and federal agencies. Together we'll get through this, but let's make sure we come out safe. Take the steps now and after the storm to minimize risk and make sure you're able to recover from this disaster.
