  • The city of New Orleans in partnership with FEMA and the Red Cross celebrated the grand opening of the Sam Bonart swimming pool located in the lower ninth ward neighborhood.
 FEMA funded $1.6 million in total for the renovations of this pool and eleven other city pools, as part of the city's ongoing recovery.

    The city of New Orleans in partnership with FEMA and the Red Cross celebrated the grand opening of the Sam Bonart swimming pool located in the lower ninth ward neighborhood. FEMA funded $1.6 million in total for the renovations of this pool and eleven other city pools, as part of the city's ongoing recovery.

  • Hynes Elementary School in Lakeview originally opened its doors in 1952.
In 2005, Hurricane Katrina inundated the area destroying the school.
Six years later, the 100,000-square-foot building welcomes students back.

In the event of a potential flooding emergency, the eight pump system will run at approximately 950 Cubic Feet per Second (CFS)
