Stronger: Panhandle Homes Hardened Against High Winds

A Florida nonprofit, working with the State of Florida, launched a one-of-a-kind program following Hurricane Ivan in 2004. Rebuild Northwest Florida uses FEMA funds to harden the homes of families and individuals. Storm shutters, hurricane straps, and other protective measures are installed so homes are able to withstand the force of a Category 3 hurricane.
