"Safe Schools" Engineers and Architects Evaluate Oklahoma Schools

Oklahoma City, Okla., November 23, 2013 -- Glenn Overcash (right), URS Senior Civil Engineer, reviews data with Diann Wilson (left), Oklahoma Emergency Management Resource Coordinator, as part of an assessment and evaluation of Northmoor Elementary School in Moore, Oklahoma. These two individuals participated with a group of engineers, architects and designers (as part of the Safe Schools 101 initiative and assessment of Oklahoma schools) who gathered to inspect the integrity and safety of Northmoor Elementary School to develop recommendations for improved safety from tornadoes and natural disasters at the school. The state of Oklahoma with the support of FEMA is spearheading a Safe Schools 101 Initiative (a first-in-the-nation endeavor) to assess the integrity and safety of all its schools to protect its students from the dangers of natural disasters.
