Jane Cage of Joplin Receives Rick Rescorla National Award for Resiliency

Joplin, Mo., May 22, 2013 -- Jane Cage, chair of the Joplin Area Citizens Advisory Recovery Team (CART), talks about the importance of community resiliency during the city's 2-year tornado anniversary ceremony after receiving the first national presentation of the Rick Rescorla National Award for Resiliency from U.S. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano.  FEMA recovery specialists helped organize the citizen-based group that Cage has led for nearly 2 years. CART has continuously helped citizens explore ways to re-imagine and recover tornado-impacted areas and works closely with local officials, governmental and non-governmental agencies and long-term recovery planners.
