Understanding FEMA’s Summary of Map Actions and Revalidation Letter

Main Content

When FEMA issues a new or updated flood map for a community, the results of current Letters of Map Change (LOMCs) may be impacted. To assist communities in understanding these impacts, FEMA issues a Summary of Map Actions (SOMA) and Revalidation Letter during the map revision process. This fact sheet helps communities and property owners understand the information presented in the SOMA and Revalidation Letter and provides answers to commonly asked questions.
