Effective December 1, 2011, FEMA’s appeal policy has changed. Under the Expanded Appeals Process (EAP), the due process procedures previously provided for new or modified Base Flood Elevations and base flood depths now also apply to other new or modified flood hazard information shown on a Flood Insurance Rate Map, including the addition or modification of any Special Flood Hazard Area boundary or zone designation, or regulatory floodway. This fact sheet provides a summary of the new process, which flood studies, Physical Map Revisions, and Letters of Map Revision it will apply for, and provides resources where more detailed information on the Expanded Appeals Process can be obtained.
