Environmental Assessment for St. Augustine Seawall, City of St. Augustine, St. Johns County, Florida (July 2011)
The objective of FEMA’s Flood Mitigation Assistance (FMA) program is to assist States and communities in implementing measures that reduce or eliminate the long-term risk of flood damages to structures caused by severe storm events and natural disasters. The purpose of the proposed action alternative presented in this EA is to provide the businesses and residents within Historic Districts 1 and 2 with Category 1 storm surge protection, while protecting the existing historic coquina seawall and creating a promenade between the existing and proposed seawalls. In accordance with 44 C.F.R. § 10.9, FEMA Implementing Procedures, this Environmental Assessment (EA) has been prepared pursuant to Section 102 of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) of 1969 (42 U.S.C. § 4332), and as implemented by the regulations promulgated by the President’s Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) (40 C.F.R. parts 1500- 1508).
