On August 29, 2005, storm surge from Hurricane Katrina severely damaged the Hancock County Water & Sewer District (HCWSD) operations and maintenance/shop buildings, located on Longfellow Road in Bay St. Louis. FEMA is proposing to assist in the funding of the construction of a new HCWSD office and maintenance facility north of Interstate-10 in Hancock County, Mississippi. FEMA is required to review the environmental effects of the proposed action prior to making a funding decision. This Environmental Assessment has been prepared in accordance with FEMA’s National Environmental Policy Act regulations.
