As part of the Building Codes Toolkit developed by FEMA Federal Insurance & Mitigation Administration (FIMA), Risk Reduction Division, Building Science Branch, the purpose of this presentation is to inform and equip property owners about the value of building codes and how they increase occupant safety and disaster resilience; who the building codes stakeholders are, how they are adopted, and the process for doing so; and finally, explain what tools are currently and readily available to support proper construction and rebuilding.
