The Indiana Flood GRID - HAZUS Silver Jackets
The State of Indiana has engaged in a multi-year project to update their state flood grid by developing the capability to produce realistic estimates of potential and actual losses from flood events. The Silver Jackets organization is leading the effort to accomplish these objectives by conducting a proof-of-concept project that utilizes HAZUS to analyze multiple flood scenarios in two areas in Indiana. The U.S. Geological Service, The Polis Center, and the Indiana Department of Homeland Security - all members of the Silver Jackets - worked together to complete this endeavor by a combined methodology of the organizations, which facilitated the integration of hazard data and information about structures at risk as well as the future evolution of the HAZUS product.
