Environmental Assessment for New West Side Community Center, Gulfport, Mississippi (March 2008)
The wind and extraordinary storm surge associated with Hurricane Katrina caused extensive structural damage to the former Gaston Hewes Recreational Center in Gulfport, Mississippi. FEMA, through its Public Assistance program, is proposing to fund construction of a new West Side Community Center. In accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and FEMA’s regulations implementing NEPA, an Environmental Assessment has been prepared to evaluate the potential impacts of the proposed project on the human and natural environment.
