HAZUS-MH Application: Design Level Exceedence – Peak Gust Wind Speeds: Hurricane Katrina
The HAZUS-MH map series templates serve many purposes. HAZUS User Groups (HUGs) can use the maps for public awareness and outreach. Emergency managers and decision makers can use the maps to show the application of HAZUS-MH to support rapid impact assessment and disaster response for earthquake, hurricane and flood emergencies. Some of the potential uses for this map include: Identify counties with the highest probability of sustaining residential damage from wind; Identify and quantify manufactured housing sites and other vulnerable structures – by county; Identify counties that likely will require Individual Assistance, including home repair and rental assistance..
