HAZUS-MH Application: Nursing Homes Exposure to Wind: Hurricane Katrina

The HAZUS-MH map series templates serve many purposes. HAZUS User Groups (HUGs) can use the maps for public awareness and outreach. Emergency managers and decision makers can use the maps to show the application of HAZUS-MH to support rapid impact assessment and disaster response for earthquake, hurricane and flood emergencies. Some of the potential uses for this map include: (Pre-event) update inventory of nursing homes; Identification of nursing homes with moderate to high probability of wind damage; Combine with SLOSH/surge analysis to identify nursing homes vulnerable to flooding (and wind damage)
