HAZUS-MH Application: Social Vulnerability: Area of Operations: Hurricane Dennis, Category 4
The HAZUS-MH map series templates serve many purposes. HAZUS User Groups (HUGs) can use the maps for public awareness and outreach. Emergency managers and decision makers can use the maps to show the application of HAZUS-MH to support rapid impact assessment and disaster response for earthquake, hurricane and flood emergencies. Some of the potential uses for this map include: Identifying counties and municipalities with high probability of being impacted by hurricane winds from Dennis; Identifying counties with high probability of Individual Assistance and Public Assistance missions; Quantifying potential number of residential structures that may be impacted by hurricane winds; Identifying manufactured housing sites and nursing homes in area potentially impacted by the hurricane; Providing FEMA with updated information on levels of EOC activation in area potentially at risk.
