HAZUS-MH Application: Hurricane Wind: Estimated Peak Gust Wind Speeds: Hurricane Katrina

The HAZUS-MH map series templates serve many purposes. HAZUS User Groups (HUGs) can use the maps for public awareness and outreach. Emergency managers and decision makers can use the maps to show the application of HAZUS-MH to support rapid impact assessment and disaster response for earthquake, hurricane and flood emergencies. Some of the potential uses for this map include: Identifying areas with highest probability of wind damage to housing and essential facilities; Identifying areas most impacted by high winds and flooding; Estimating the number of residential dwellings that may sustain wind and/or flood damage.
