Hurrevac2000, a program funded by FEMA (DHS), Army Corps of Engineers and NOAA, has developed into a comprehensive decision tool for emergency managers. However, the numerous features of the program can present challenges to the occasional or infrequent user who may have a problem figuring which routines are important in the decision-making process. This training is designed to review only those Hurrevac topics and features that are felt necessary for hurricane decision-making by a county emergency manager. There are of course other outside factors that come into play in evacuation decisionmaking, but by outlining only the most relevant topics in Hurrevac, we hope to maximize the utility of the program for decision-making in threat situations.
