Environmental Assessment for the Gulfport Library Relocation/Consolidation Project, Harrison County, Mississippi (October 2009)

On August 29, 2005, Hurricane Katrina struck the Mississippi Gulf Coast, causing extensive damage. Subsequently, a Presidential Disaster Declaration, FEMA-1604-DR-MS, was signed for Katrina.Harrison County, Mississippi, has submitted an application for Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) funding under FEMA’s Public Assistance Program being administered in response to FEMA-1604-DR-MS for the proposed Gulfport Library Relocation/Consolidation Project in the City of Gulfport. The project consists of relocating the Gulfport Library outside of the 100-year floodplain and Advisory Base Flood Elevation (ABFE). Harrison County also proposes to relocate the services from the existing Orange Grove Public Library to the new building. The consolidation of both libraries would create the new Harrison County Public Library.
