Doors and Hardware Panel
- Steel doors with exterior skins of 14-gauge steel welded to the interior steel frame the full height of 
the door
- Continuous 14-gauge steel channels at the hinge and lock rails
- Top and bottom of door should have16-gauge channels
- Minimum hardware reinforcement of 12-gauge steel
- Door fill of polystyrene infill or honeycomb core
- Alternative Door: 18- or 20-gauge skin door, meeting the above internal frame construction, with a 14-
gauge or heavier
- Three heavyweight hinges
- Three cylindrical dead bolts (with solid 1 /2-inch-thick steel throw bolts with 1-inch throw into door 
jamb) with one latch/lock cylindrical or two cylindrical dead bolts, each at level of hinge, and a mortised 
latch with a throw dead bolt locking function
Note: 16-gauge door frames should be anchored as shown in FEMA 320.
Note: Several companies manufacture metal doors that meet FEMA 320 specifications.
