30-Day Public Comment and New Interim Guidance: Resource Typing Definition for Aerial Apparatus, Fire Today, FEMA releases a resource typing definition for Fire Services and Hazardous Materials (Fire/HazMat) for 30-day public comment. This guidance provides a standardized set of criteria for use by the whole community when inventorying Fire/HazMat resources and sustaining or building resources needed to deliver associated core capabilities. This resource will also serve as interim guidance to support emergency management and public safety professionals across the nation. The resource typing definition for Fire/HazMat is: * Aerial Apparatus, Fire FEMA developed this resource typing definition in collaboration with emergency management and public safety professionals and subject matter experts. Also, the definition was peer reviewed by additional fire service practitioners and subject matter experts representing a national perspective. These stakeholders suggested guidance for specific overall functions, components, capabilities and order specifications for this resource. This Fire/HazMat guidance addresses requests that are made under a variety of mutual aid scenarios from automatic aid to that implemented in declared disasters through Emergency Management Assistance Compact. This guidance uses the National Incident Management System (NIMS) to provide a common and standard understanding about the tools and resources needed to sustain, build and deliver the core capabilities necessary to achieve a secure and resilient nation.
