StartinginJune,2012,FEMARegion6willestablishaProcessingCenter inBatonRouge,La.TheBRPCwillhavecompleteoversightofdisaster 1786(Gustav)and1792(Ike)andpartialoversightofdisasters1603 (Katrina)and1607(Rita).Thisisinaccordancewithtraditionaldisaster processesandJointFieldOfficemodels.ThemissionoftheBRPCisto improvetherateofrecoveryandclose-outforthosedisasterprogramsand projectsassociatedwithdisasters1603,1607,1786and1792. 
 

Specifically,theBRPCwilladdressHazardMitigationprojectsthatfall underdisasters1603,1607,1786and1792.PublicAssistanceprojectsthat fallunderdisasters1786and1792.PublicAssistanceprojectsunderdisas­ters1603and1607willcontinuetobecoordinatedthroughtheLouisiana RecoveryOffice.TheBRPCwillstaffover75PublicAssistance,Hazard MitigationandsupportstaffwhowillreporttoFEMARegion6.An­nouncementsforthesepositionswillbepostedonwww.usajobs.gov. Whileclose-outisongoing,recoveryworkcontinuesinLouisianaforall fourhurricanes.FEMAwillcontinuetoreviewprojectsandobligateaddi­tionalfundingasappropriate. 
St.BernardParish’sPublic SchoolSystemEntersFinalLegofRecovery  TheFederalEmergencyManagementAgencyannouncedonMay1,a $148.3millionconsolidatedgranttotheSt.BernardParishSchoolBoard, 
largelysupportingtheimplementationof theirpost-Katrina,overallrecoveryplan. 
Theschoolsystem’snewlayoutisbuilt uponthedeterminationthatrebuildingall damagedfacilitiesattheiroriginalloca­tionswasnotinthebestinterestofthe community’spost-Katrinaneeds.In­stead,thesamefunctionsandcapacities thatexistedpre-Katrinawererestoredin adifferentconfiguration.
