Kids From Maine Talk About Surviving The Ice Storm Of '98

Was there anything good about the Ice Storm?

Meeting new people at the shelter. I also saw a lot of our friends. When my mother was taking a shower the power went out. 12 years old - Caravel Middle School

The best part was all of our family sitting in front of the fireplace playing games. 13 years old - South Meadow School

I'd say the best part is seeing my sister try to go 3 days w/out t.v. Also hearing that people were complaining because they don't have cable. I thought that was pretty funny because half of Maine didn't have power let alone cable. 15 years old - Yarmouth High School

I liked the ice storm because when the sun was out, everything was very pretty. 10 years old - Cascade Brook School

I got to see a circuit breaker blow up. 11 years old - Cascade Brook School

When power came back on all of us and our neighbors had a big party!!!! 11 years - Cascade Brook School

The best part for me was at night eating supper by candlelight. A funny thing that happened was the snow fell off the roof and broke the picnic table. It was very snug in my house. 11 years old - Cascade Brook School

I got to see my grandparents for a week. 11 years old - Cascade Brook School

The best part of the ice storm was that since we have a woodstove all our friends who were cold came over to our house and we got to hang out for a while. My house was really warm and we even had hot water because we have a hot water heater that is run by the woodstove. 12 years old - Woodside Elementary School
