I saved my cat from the flood. He was in the water and I grabbed him on the tail. We are living with friends. My dog and cat are together.

Grand Forks has found a lot of pets stranded in the flood water. People have been searching for them. Some pets are in shelters. Lots of people are worried about their pets. Many people will be happy when the flood is over. The Humane Society found some pets and gave them food. Some pets could not swim.

My dad's friend and his kids are staying at our house because of the flood. They might stay for two weeks. I am so excited because I can play with them all the time. We can play on the swings and in the house. I can give them a ride on my four wheeler. I will have fun.

This year was supposed to be the 100-year flood. It was, and then some. The flood broke all kinds of records. Thousands of sand baggers gathered to make a dike higher. The sandbagger's thought that their work had paid off, but then they watched in horror as they saw their precious dikes break. Within a few short days, most of the city of Grand Forks was under water. All that the residents of Grand Forks could do was evacuate the city and hope that the damage wasn't that severe. Now that the river has gone down, people are starting to go back to their homes. Some people have three to five feet of water in their basements. And some people lost their entire home. The only good new news is that most people's main or top floors are dry.
