FEMA employees returned to work Oct. 17 from a two-week furlough to a FEMA all-hands town hall meeting. As the meeting started that afternoon, the Administrator and Deputy Administrator reassured employees of how much they are appreciated. The Administrator also informed employees of the challenges the agency faced potentially having to respond to a hurricane with limited staff.
During the furlough, a website was established and maintained by skeletal staff in External Affairs that provided employees one-stop resource available outside of the FEMA internal network they could check daily to stay informed through all-hands messages and other updates.
