01/17/2009 - Texas - FEMA's Role In Texas:   Federal disaster assistance is granted when the destruction and losses following a major disaster are of a magnitude and severity that are beyond a state’s resources. The role of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is to support a state in its response and recovery mission by supplementing efforts with federal assets, providing technical guidance, and coordinating the activities of other federal agencies.
 
11/18/2008 - Texas - Public Assistance Extentions:   Since Hurricane Ike’s landfall in Texas, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has received, processed and approved three previous short-term extension requests for Public Assistance funding from Texas Governor Rick Perry.

 
12/18/2008 - Texas - $8.3 million in Individual Assistance Approved:  Since Hurricane Ike’s landfall in Texas, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has approved more than $8.3 million in individual assistance for renters and homeowners in Oak Island/Anahuac in Chambers County.
