What Services to Expect From a Texas DRC

A Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) is a facility or mobile office placed in an area of high need where applicants may go for information about FEMA/State disaster assistance programs and to get answers about individual disaster recovery. At a DRC, victims can meet face-to-face with disaster recovery specialists.

Residents are encouraged to register with FEMA before visiting a DRC but they may go to a DRC to register or check the status of an application.

Each DRC includes representatives from local, state and federal agencies and voluntary organizations.

Specific services people can expect to receive at a DRC are (some services vary by location):

Get information about different types of state and federal disaster assistance;
Speak with Department of Labor specialists about Disaster Unemployment Assistance;
Obtain help completing low-interest disaster loan applications from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) for homeowners, renters or business owners;
Obtain referrals for legal counsel;
Obtain referrals for crisis counseling;
Receive referrals to the American Red Cross and other voluntary organizations to help with immediate unmet needs;
Learn about cost-effective mitigation measures to reduce the impact of future disaster losses.
