Joplin Voluntary Long-Term Recovery Agencies Recognized

FEMA Region VII Administrator Beth Freeman and Missouri State Emergency Management Agency Director Paul Parmenter recognized more than 80 voluntary, faith-based and community-based organizations for their outstanding contributions through Missouri during the 2011 floods, storms, and tornados. Through their tireless work, the agencies coordinated more than 126,804 volunteer days, with volunteer hours reaching more than 775,309 -- that’s worth about 17 million in community service.

FEMA Voluntary Agency Liaison s continue working with Long Term Recovery Committee, which includes more than 80+ voluntary agencies, that are address the disaster related needs of more than 1,000 households. 

In Joplin alone, the Long Term Recovery Committee members reported assisting 8,581 families and 27,717 individuals.  They also provided rebuild and repair assistance to 721 households.
