  • Once a disaster is declared by the President, a collection of men and women are given a special mission: build and staff a Joint Field Office where FEMA and the state can coordinate disaster recovery - within three days. From a Joint Field Office, FEMA coordinates the disaster response and recovery efforts in those areas affected by disasters.
