    This poster provides information on the risk of high-wind damages. The poster shows a map of the U.S. with the four wind zones and the expected highest winds each zone can expect. The Fujita scale (used to measure the severity of tornado activity) is shown along with the suggestion to mitigate against wind damage using a safe room or other shelter.   • FEMA 388 CD, Safe Room and Community Shelter Resource CD (2009)

    On this CD, you will find displays, posters, handouts, multimedia, and other resources that provide information about mitigating for tornadoes or other high-wind events and about the importance of safe rooms and community shelter construction in saving lives during such events. Included on this CD are: safe room display panels which contain artwork for reproducing the exhibit panels used in the National Emergency Training Center Safe Room Exhibit, maps on tornado activity in the United States, posters, booth display panels, FEMA's Taking Shelter from the Storm brochure, various handouts, and a safe room PowerPoint presentation.   • FEMA mitigation expert John Bourdeau(r) demonstrates a partially underground saferoom for a two-part television news report on residential saferooms. This room was built after the May 20, 2013 Moore, OK tornado and is located a block from the Plaza Towers Elementary School where 7 students lost their lives that day. Reporter Ed Doney(l) of KFOR, NBC for Oklahoma City, focused on the importance of residential saferooms and looked at the differences between above ground and below ground designs.
