Alakanuk, Alaska, July 16, 2013 -- The Alakanuk garbage dump is overwhelmed with debris after a major flood affected the communities trash delivery system.  Federal funding in the form of Public Assistance (PA) is available to state, tribal and eligible local governments and certian nonprofit organizationson a cost sharing basis for emergency work and the repair or replacement of facilities damaged by the flooding in the Alaska Gateway Regional Educational Attendance Area (REAA), Copper River REAA, Lower Yukon REAA, Yukon Flats REAA, and the Yukon-Koyukuk REAA.
