WESTFIELD, Mass. -- La temporada de huracanes se acerca a las semanas de mayor riesgo, y con la llegada del huracán Irene, los manejadores de emergencia recuerdan a los residentes de Massachusetts a mantenerse alertas. De acuerdo al Coordinador Estatal, Kurt Schwartz "Organizaciones federales, estatales y locales continúan trabajando en conjunto para preparar al estado de Massachusetts en caso de que fuera impactado por el Huracán Irene".

WESTFIELD, Mass. -- La fecha límite para solicitar asistencia por desastre se extendió al 22 de agosto para los individuos y dueños de negocios en los condados de Worcester y Hampden en Massachusetts y quien sufrieron pérdidas debido a las tormentas y tornado del 1 de Junio. Esta extensión le permitirá a los residentes de las zonas declaradas de Massachusetts, más tiempo para registrarse y solicitar asistencia por desastre.

WESTFIELD, Mass. -- Queda una semana para que los sobrevivientes de desastres en Massachusetts puedan inscribirse para recibir asistencia federal por desastre. Los sobrevivientes deben inscribirse con la Agencia Federal para el Manejo de Emergencias y devolver sus solicitudes para préstamos de la Agencia para el Desarrollo de la Pequeña Empresa antes del lunes, 15 de agosto para poder ser considerados para recibir asistencia por situación de desastre de FEMA y SBA.

Public Assistance - Dollars Approved

Public Assistance (PA): Disaster grant assistance available for communities to quickly respond to and recover from major disasters or emergencies declared by the President

Emergency Work (Categories A-B): Work that must be performed to reduce or eliminate an immediate threat to life, protect public health and safety, and to protect improved property that is significantly threatened due to disasters or emergencies declared by the President

Permanent Work (Categories C-G): Work that is required to restore a damaged facility, through repair or restoration, to its pre-disaster design, function, and capacity in accordance with applicable codes and standards

*Dollars Approved: Assistance dollars approved but not necessarily disbursed.

*Dollars Obligated: Funds made available to the State via electronic transfer following FEMA's final review and approval of Public Assistance projects.
