Workplace Transformation Town Hall Meetings - As you know, FEMA is in the process of transforming itself into a mobile workforce. You probably have many questions associated with this transition. As part of our commitment to keep you informed on this key initiative we will be conducting sessions for HQ Managers and Supervisors and All FEMA Employees. The purpose of these meetings is to update you on our progress and listen to your questions and concerns. The full schedule for Managers/Supervisors at HQ and the Regions, and All Employees at HQ and the Regions, is provided on the FEMA intranet.

Employee News and Announcements

  • TOMORROW! Please join us for the FEMASTAT meeting on Friday, Feb. 8, 1:00 – 3:00 pm EST. Read more.

  • Mandatory Transit Benefit Recertification - All FEMA employees participating in the transit program are required to recertify by COB, Feb. 15. All changes will become effective April 1.  Participants who do not recertify will be withdrawn from the transit program.  New employees who submitted a transit application in January are not required to recertify.

  • MONDAY DEADLINE! If you haven’t already done so, Monday is the deadline for nominating a colleague for the DHS: Heroes on the Front Lines initiative. Please refer to the Secretary’s memo for details.

  • Tampa Police Department Use CDP Field Force Training During RNC  - When Tampa, Fla., was identified as the location for the 2012 Republican National Convention, the Tampa Police Department wasted no time assessing their preparedness for an event of that size and of such national importance.  

  • Preparations For Potential Sequestration On March 1.  This week, DHS circulated a memo to all employees titled, Preparations for Potential Sequestration on March 1. The purpose of the memo was to advise employees on the potential for cross-the-board budget cuts and the Department’s planning to execute such cuts.

  • Partners in Mitigation Convene in Atlanta – FEMA Region IV held its second annual “Partners in Mitigation” workshop at the Georgia Tech Research Institute Conference Center in Downtown Atlanta. 

  • Designation of Resources Support Section Chiefs for the National Response Coordination Center (NRCC) - memo distributed to all FEMA Employees on Jan. 25 by William L. Carwile, former Associate Administrator for the FEMA Office of Response and Recovery.

  • Tips for Flu Prevention Flu season had an early and significant start in many parts of the country. Individuals who received their flu shot early took the first and best preventive measure for fighting against the flu. There are still things you can do to protect yourself.

  • It’s not too late to get a flu shot! Message from the FEMA Occupational Safety, Health and Medical Readiness Division.

Help FEMA Prevent Fraud, Waste and Abuse.  If you have information about instances of fraud, waste, abuse, or mismanagement involving FEMA programs or operations, you should contact the DHS OIG Hotline at: 1-800-323-8603; by fax at 202-254-4297.
