Secretary Napolitano to be Guest Speaker
All DHS employees in the National Capital Region are cordially invited to attend DHS Pride’s June Pride Ceremony. The Pride event is scheduled for June 7, at 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Julie Myers Conference Center, at ICE Headquarters, 500 12th Street, SW, Washington, D.C. The closest Metro stop is Smithsonian.
DHS Pride is a DHS-recognized employee association for DHS’s proudly-serving Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) personnel, striving to demonstrate what the LGBT community can contribute to the safety and security of our country and featuring members from every DHS component.
The ceremony will commemorate June Pride Month, and mark a year of significant progress for DHS Pride and for the LGBT community.
At this one-hour ceremony, Secretary Napolitano will receivethe DHS Pride Award for Service, and special guest Amanda Simpson, special assistant to the Army Acquisition Executive, DOD, and first open transwoman political appointee in the U.S. Government, will be delivering the key-note address.
A reception will follow immediately after the presentations.
