As part of the department-wide Efficiency Review, the secretary issued a call in February for all DHS employees to submit their ThinkEfficiency ideas for improving the way the department does business.
Out of the nearly 1,000 ideas submitted to the DHS Efficiency Review Office, Gene Longenecker III in FEMA Region IV submitted one of the two ideas which are finalists for further evaluation by cross-component subject matter experts. Gene’s idea was to increase the use of video teleconferencing for training/meetings. The Efficiency Review Steering Committee, which is comprised of DHS component heads, reviewed and selected Gene’s innovative idea. Upon completion of the review by subject matter experts, Secretary Napolitano will announce the winning idea(s) that will be implemented department-wide as Efficiency Review initiatives in the coming weeks.
Please join us in recognizing Gene for his efforts to improve the Agency.
