FEMA’s National Advisory Council Public Quarterly Meeting

The National Advisory Council (NAC) is scheduled to conduct a public meeting on July 12, 2012 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 pm EST at the Crystal Marriott Gateway Hotel located at 1700 Jefferson Davis Highway in Arlington, VA. 

The NAC advises the FEMA Administrator on all aspects of emergency management and incorporates federal, state, local, and tribal governments, and private sector partners’ input into the development and revision of FEMA policies and strategies.   The NAC will meet to review the progress and/or potential recommendations of its four subcommittees: Preparedness and Protection, Response and Recovery, Public Engagement and Mission Support, and Federal Insurance and Mitigation.

During the July meeting, the NAC will specifically discuss:

  • The National Frameworks as outlined in Presidential Policy Directive 8 (PPD-8) on National Preparedness.
  • The Public Assistance (PA) Bottom-Up Review, Emergency Management Performance Grant (EMPG) Program.
  • Whole Community within Strategic Foresight Initiative (SFI), Youth Preparedness Strategic Framework.
  • FEMA Workforce Transformation Initiative.

In addition, the FEMA Program Offices will brief the Council on Emerging Topics in Emergency Management during a lunchtime session, scheduled for 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. A public comment period will be held from 2:00 to 2:30 p.m.
