West
A record-breaking heat wave continues over much of the Pacific Northwest today. Excessive Heat Warnings are in effect through Friday evening for parts of Washington and Oregon. Showers and thunderstorms are forecast over southeast Montana, Wyoming, Colorado and New Mexico.
South
Thunderstorms, some severe with locally heavy rain, are forecast particularly across the Arkansas, Louisiana, and Texas region, and over northern Texas and a large part of Oklahoma. High temperatures are expected throughout the State of Texas, reaching 100 degrees or above. Red Flag Warnings will be in effect until tonight for Southern Texas due to high relative humidity and strong winds.
Northeast
Isolated, severe thunderstorms with the threat of damaging wind and hail are possible from southeastern New York to eastern Virginia.
Midwest
Thunderstorms are forecast from the Mississippi Valley through the Ohio Valley, and from the Dakotas to Kansas; a few storms may move eastward into Minnesota and Iowa. (NOAA, National Weather Service, various media sources)
